Gramercy NY Homes & Real Estate
Gramercy is one of the livelier, well-traveled neighborhoods in Manhattan — home to some of the city’s most exciting new restaurants. Though despite the area's long-standing central location and affluent audience, it didn’t become a dining hot spot until about two decades ago. In the mid–19th century, East 20th Street landed on the national map thanks to President Theodore Roosevelt, who spent his childhood in a townhouse on 28 East 20th Street (the building has since been turned into a historic site). The area was seriously on the rise at the time, thanks to the building of Gramercy Park in the 1830s — which turned the surrounding blocks into a wealthy neighborhood.
